About CWCI Australia

Our history

CWCI commenced in Sydney in 1957 when a small group of women went away for a weekend of Bible teaching. From this the first full weekend convention ministry for women was held in 1959 and the CWCI ministry started nationally.  Today regional events offer encouragement, inspiration and Bible teaching.

In 1971 the CWCI Safari ministry began with a team of women travelling overland by coach; through Queensland to Darwin and returning via Katherine and Alice Springs. Today Safari and Tour Teams continue to travel to remote areas of Australia teaching and encouraging people in isolated communities.

In 1972 CWCI’s Bible Study method — Know Your Bible (KYB) — came into being as a follow-up to conventions and at the request of many women who desired to know more of God’s Word. Know Your Bible (KYB) studies are used by women meeting in small groups across Australia or studying by correspondence. It is practical and designed to help women in their study of the Bible and its application to life in today’s world.

CWCI Australia is responsible for Know Your Bible (KYB) in Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu.
