Introducing the KYB study: Wrestling with life – Ecclesiastes

CWCI Australia has recently released another Know Your Bible (KYB) study. Shortly, KYB groups from throughout Australia will be exploring the book of Ecclesiastes together. This series of five studies is titled Wrestling with life.

Ecclesiastes is a small book of the Bible found in the Old Testament between Proverbs and Song of Solomon. It is part of what is known as the ‘Wisdom Literature’ of the Bible and speaks of the struggle often had in finding meaning and purpose to life. It shows the reader that trying to understand life based on experience, reason and observation alone is foolishness. Rather, the best way to live in this world is by seeking God’s wisdom to guide and direct our lives.

The writer of this study, Jennie Baddeley, is excited to share her thoughts on Ecclesiastes with us. She says it is a helpful book for those who follow Jesus to study because it makes us wise by teaching us to slow down and think difficult thoughts about our broken world in the presence of God and with each other. Readers may find the content of the book a puzzle, and at times even frustrating. However, as we begin to understand it, we will become wiser and grow even more in our Christian faith.

To help those wanting to gain a greater understanding of the background of Ecclesiastes, or more insight into the content of the study, Jennie has prepared an Introduction to the study. It is available for use by groups or individuals from the CWCI Australia website in audio and print version. It can be found at KYB Introductions – CWCI Australia

KYB groups and CWCI Committees throughout Australia also arrange various in person and online Introductions to each KYB study. At these events speakers will “introduce” the study in a similar way to Jennie. Women everywhere are welcome to attend any these events. Being a member of a KYB group is not necessary.  To find out if there is an in person or online KYB Introduction suitable to for you to attend, click Events – CWCI Australia for locations and contact details.
