CWCI Australia National Safaris
Today the Stuart Highway North, Northern Territory National Safari team Cheri Mullet (Speaker), and Shelley Redmond (Leader), are already in Darwin, having travelled there yesterday. They are engaging in a Cultural Training Seminar with Missions Interlink Northern Territory Ministry Leader Rachel Borneman.
A CWCI Committee began in the Northern Territory in the 1970’s, and several Safaris and a few visits from Tropical Regional Board members have followed over the decades. If you were a team member on one of those Safaris and have some photos to share, please send to communications@cwciaus.org.au
In Week 1 the team will visit several Darwin Churches, have a tabletop Café event, and travel south to Katherine where they will meet with the Katherine Know Your Bible (KYB) group. After that a trip to Barunga community is planned, and they will participate in a Sunday evening service in Katherine.
Katherine Christian Convention begins on Friday 2nd May and continues over the long weekend. Both team members will attend the CWCI information table, participate as opportunity presents, and serve in the Convention logistics. As a primarily Indigenous Christian gathering, many communities, denominations, and fellowships from across the Top End will be represented.
In Week 2, KYB groups in Batchelor and Darwin will host meetings and the team will enjoy fellowship with a Territory welcome and meeting at Humpty Doo, Living Water Uniting Church.
Cheri’s talks are varied, challenging the hearts of attendees with subjects including the very nature of our God, who He is, and how He works in us. Having previously worked in the Northern Territory, Cheri is well placed to champion the aim of knowing the Bible, as a key discipline in the Christian life. Shelley as Leader, knows CWCI well. She will bring a compassionate heart to the various cultural scenarios and generations into which they will be ministering.
Please pray for good decisions along the way, and that this team will be open to listen to the many stories that this Safari will draw out. To learn more about CWCI Australia’s Safari Ministry, visit Mission teams reaching out – Safari Ministry – CWCI Australia
