As the end of 2025 approaches you may be already thinking about the New Year and what it will bring. For the eight women who are currently part of the CWCI Australia National Management Board it is time to reflect on the end of another board term. Five of those eight women will see the completion of their time as part of that board. Others will move onto form part of a new board for the 2026-2028 term.
The purpose of a management board is to provide governance, oversight, and accountability in an organisation. They ensure the smooth running of the organisation, so it operates within required boundaries. The CWCI National Management Board is responsible for upholding the purpose and goals of CWCI in a manner that honours God, while also ensuring the organisation stays accountable to its members.
The term of office for a CWCI Australia National Management Board is three years. Board members can serve a maximum of two consecutive terms. Women who are eligible from CWCI Australia’s general membership are appointed to the board at the end of an election process.
Not everyone who started in 2023 completed three years. Two board members resigned early in the second year for personal reasons. An existing member and a new appointee filled their roles. Despite these changes, the board stayed unified and continued its work to a successful end.
Because CWCI Australia operates nationwide some of its ministry activities are now online. The mission of CWCI is to reach women throughout Australia by sharing the Bible and help them to grow in their Christian faith. Although many local interactions continue to happen face-to-face—whether in Know Your Bible study groups or at larger gatherings featuring CWCI speakers delivering biblically based messages—certain management undertakings are now wholly online. Looking back, the first online Annual General Meeting took place in 2025. This enabled women from various regions of Australia to participate who otherwise might not have had the opportunity. At present, most training sessions for regional ministries take place virtually. Our website helps keep members informed, while our social media platforms enable us to connect with women both nationally and internationally.
In early 2026, six new women will join the board allowing it to pursue fresh initiatives. One such initiative will be in 2027 when CWCI Australia will mark its 70th anniversary. Consideration will be given by the new board on future celebrations.
On a personal note, this marks my final Blog contribution as Development Director on the National Management Board. As I come to the end of my time, I recall the Apostle Paul’s words to the Philippian church—he urged them to let go of the past and strive toward the future. Over the past six years serving on the board, we achieved a great deal; however, the moment has come for a new group of women to join forces and lead CWCI into the future. May they embrace the challenges ahead and serve humbly in the roles entrusted to them.
